Affordable Hearing Aid

 

In 2008 Songbird Hearing wanted to figure out what hearing aid to develop next.

 

Objective:  inform strategy for concept development, and design and conduct subsequent user experience/human factors evaluation of a prototype of the first over-the-counter, disposable hearing aid to be sold at a price point for less that $100. 
 
Methods: field research, design research of both physical anthropometics and aging needs to support the Industrial Designers, interviews, and observations
 
Deliverables:  Strategic planning for new product line,  human factors support during concept development, written report of the results of the user experience/human factors evalution with recommendations for improvements of both the physical design of the device and the Instructions for Use (IFU)
